Release Date: October 7th, 2014
Publishers: Simon & Schuster
Genre: YA Thriller
Sometimes danger is hard to see... until it’s too late.

Britt Pfeiffer has trained to backpack the Teton Range, but she isn't prepared when her ex-boyfriend, who still haunts her every thought, wants to join her. Before Britt can explore her feelings for Calvin, an unexpected blizzard forces her to seek shelter in a remote cabin, accepting the hospitality of its two very handsome occupants—but these men are fugitives, and they take her hostage.

In exchange for her life, Britt agrees to guide the men off the mountain. As they set off, Britt knows she must stay alive long enough for Calvin to find her. The task is made even more complicated when Britt finds chilling evidence of a series of murders that have taken place there... and in uncovering this, she may become the killer’s next target.

But nothing is as it seems in the mountains, and everyone is keeping secrets, including Mason, one of her kidnappers. His kindness is confusing Britt. Is he an enemy? Or an ally?

BLACK ICE is New York Times bestselling author Becca Fitzpatrick’s riveting romantic thriller set against the treacherous backdrop of the mountains of Wyoming. Falling in love should never be this dangerous…

Review *** stars

Black Ice was an enjoyable read. Would I recommend it Yes !!

I liked it but it didn't grab at me like her Hush Hush series. I know I am comparing .. This a completely different genre. It just fell short for me in some parts.

Her characters were likeable and well defined - but didn't draw me in and have me swooning or starry eyed.

The story was unpredictable and very well written , which I enjoyed - it just didn't have the wow factor for me.

The story developed at a gradual pace, inter twining the suspense and mystery along the way. The story was not predictable what so ever this I appreciated .

I do love my romance in my stories, this fell short for me. The connection was there between the characters . But I just didn't get the heart fluttering ..

I appreciated the time that the author took to describe the surroundings to us .. I could easily envisage this along the way. The hard - wet , dangerous - yet beautiful and alluring setting the book was written in.

I didn't find a lot of action within this thriller - we had a few on the edge of our seat moments . It definitely keeps you intrigued to find how what who where and why though. The cover certainly is mysterious and suits the book well.

The gradual build up between Brit and Mason was a rollercoaster at first but as the story progresses Becca Fitzpatrick did a great job of winding things up with this pair.

Overall, I have put a few negative points forward , these are only my personal opinion.

We all enjoy different aspects within a story. Would I read it again - probably not. But for all those who love Becca's work this is an enjoyable read. Def give it a try .

Thank you to Simon & Schuster Net galley or the arc review for my honest opinion and review.

SOULS
Releasing late September 2014

WARNING: This is CORA'S story: This book may be considered NA (new adult) because it contains some swearing, violence and sex scenes: Suitable for ages 17 and up. A Clean Version will also be available on Amazon.

Eighteen-year-old Cora Jemison knows what it’s like to DATE A soul reaper. There are no Friday night movies, no school dances, and no stolen kisses between classes. It totally sucks! What makes it even worse, souls pop up when she least expects it. The last one is not her fault, but it all adds up to zero quality time with her super hot, scythe-carrying boyfriend, Echo.

Since Cora was etched with special runes by an evil Immortal, she understands why souls are drawn to her. She makes the best of it by helping souls find closure while Echo escorts them to the realm of the dead. Perfect partners, until a dark soul visits Cora in the dead of the night and Echo decides her soul-helping days are over.

Cora can either listen to Echo or follow her instincts. To make matters worse, other reapers start stalking her, demanding she hand over the soul. Even her Valkyrie friends think she’s gone too far. But something sinister is coming their way, and the soul is the key to saving her town, her friends, and her relationship with Echo. Can she convince Echo to see things her way before it’s too late?

WITCHES
Releasing Late 2014

The Norns think they’ve won, but it’s hard to control a teenager, let alone a powerful one…
Raine Cooper’s life should be perfect. She’s an Immortal Seeress, most likely to be elected Prom Queen, and envied by the girls at Kayville High for dating the dreamy quarterback, Torin St. James. Instead, she’s haunted by the smug facial expressions the Norns’ wore during their last meeting.

As a Norn-In-Training, Raine crossed the line long ago when she sided with the Valkyries and Mortal Witches. When the Norns return with demands of their own, Raine feels trapped. She must repair the battle grounds and wipe out the memories of every Mortal witness. Torin tries to convince her that the Norns are manipulating her, but she refuses to listen. At least until the Norns’ demands focus on someone she loves. When Raine refuses to cooperate with them, their punishment is swift and gut-wrenching, turning her pain into fury.

Raine plots revenge on a massive scale and makes deals with unsavory allies. Her goal?  Total destruction of the entire Norn race. Raine’s only hope of salvation is Torin, but how much will he sacrifice to save her?

Review 5 super stars !!!

Such a beautifully illustrated book. Bright and vibrant, easily read and put forth. Pages are lush and well defined, drawings easily understandable and a good story line that keeps the child interested till the end.

Supertato has an eye catching cover, lovely and bold and included within the pages, a meaning at the end of the story ** Everyone has special talents ** . Which I found great.

Funny and Enjoyable even my 8 year old loved it.

Sue Hendra has a talent for wonderfully created characters, and a crafty illustrator.

You can find Sue at her website - www.worldofsudehendra.com for activities, book info and games.

**Big thank you to Simon and Schuster Australia for the review copy for my honest opinion.**

Absolute Zero - Touch of Frost 2 = Lynn Rush & Giveaway

Absolute Zero
(Touch of Frost #2)
by Lynn Rush
Genre: Upper YA/New Adult Paranormal

Synopsis

Death may be the only way I can live…

The Center is destroyed. Mandy and Georgia have their own place near campus and are ready to start their new lives as college students. All that’s missing is Mandy’s steamy relationship with Zach. His sudden distance and irritability has Mandy wondering…and possibly wandering.

Nate Ashcroft, a beautiful, but mysterious, guy literally falls into Mandy’s life, shattering her already unstable relationship with Zach. When an unknown agency sets its targets on Mandy and

Georgia, ugly truths of Mandy’s powers, her parents’ deaths and the people she’s chosen to trust send her life into a tailspin.

One only her death can stop.
Excerpt

"If you don't get me out of here, Georgia, I'm going to accidentally turn the place into an igloo." I jabbed my sister's side with my elbow.
"That's okay, I'll just melt it, and we'll have a little pool party." Georgia scrunched her forehead, glaring at me. "It's our first college party. Enjoy it, sis."
I glanced around the sardine-packed house. It reeked of booze and smoke. The music thumped so loud, I thought my eardrums would implode and ooze out of my ears. Sure, my control over my freezing powers and strength and increased, like, a zillion times over the last few weeks, but still...
And I didn't even know half of these people bumping against me. Then again, we'd just finished freshman orientation, how would I know anyone?
"Can you believe we got invited to this?" Georgia screamed in my ear, but it was pretty much whispering since the music was so loud.
"No. Some guy just invited you?"
"He was handing out flyers. I grabbed one, and he told me to come."
I tugged her to an empty space near a wall, and we squeezed ourselves between two other chicks scanning the crowd. "And why did we come?"
"I've never been invited to a party before. High school sucked remember? Zero friends, freaky streaks of color running through our air. Loners."

As if that isn't confusing enough, she develops unforeseen desires towards her friend Damien. With his surfer blonde hair and a body to die for, what could honestly hold her back? Maybe the fact that he is the ex-boyfriend of her recently deceased friend. Struggling with her shame, Kiera finds herself gravitating towards Damien, seeking not only love, but a confidante that she can share her secrets and fears with.

Through a series of attacks Kiera is left vulnerable, her opponent aggressive, unrelenting. What does he want with her, what is she to him? Cornered, with no where to go, Kiera has only one option; to wield the power within her. Is she strong enough to control her new found powers, will they be enough to save her life?

The Queen's Choice - Cayla Kluver Book Review

Magic was seeping out of me, black and agonizing. I could see it drifting away. The magic that would let me pass the Road to reach home again.

When sixteen-year-old Anya learns that her aunt, Queen of the Faerie Kingdom of Chrior, will soon die, her grief is equaled only by her despair for the future of the kingdom. Her young cousin, Illumina, is unfit to rule, and Anya is determined not to take up the queen's mantle herself.

Convinced that the only solution is to find Prince Zabriel, who long ago disappeared into the human realm of Warckum, and persuade him to take up his rightful crown, Anya journeys into the Warckum Territory to bring him home. But her journey is doomed to be more harrowing than she ever could have imagined…

My Review

* star

Sadly this story wasn’t really for me. I had a hard time getting into it, a lot of it I found to be so so , at times a little dragged out and very long winded.

I couldnt connect with the characters, but will say that the storyline was none the less well detailed and certainly well written from this author.

I found the book just long and would have loved more romance. But that is a personal choice of mine. For some they may find this refreshing, but for myself I like to see some connection with the characters. It just didn't do it for me...

Overall, the storyline certainly had a great concept, but I just found it wasn’t a book I wanted to rush back to – to finish. I did finish it though.

The cover is certainly eye catching.

Thank you to the publisher for the review copy for my honest opinion.
