Today is Release day for Kristie Cook's Forth book in her Soul Saver Series !!

 POWER

and a Big Happy Birthday to Kristie to... Check out the gorgeous cover !! JUST STUNNING ,  and also a teaser excerpt ! Enjoy !!

(Part of Chapter 1 from POWER)

I never heard the rest of Tristan's sentence—what he didn’t want me to think. The handsome guy thought I’d nodded to him and had me by the hand, stumbling over his own feet as he dragged me to the dance area. As soon as we stepped onto the sunken floor, his hands were on my hips, pulling me close to him. For a brief moment, I forgot about all the mind signatures, the twirling lights and pounding music and could only think about how strange it was to be that close to a man other than Tristan.

But only for a brief moment. Before I could even do anything, a growl ripped through the music—or maybe just through my head—and Tristan was suddenly between the guy and me, his back to me and his arms out protectively. The drunk guy swung without even looking, and Tristan caught his wrist in mid-air. With the pain of the grip, the guy finally looked up intoTristan’s face. His eyes grew wide and his Adam’s apple bobbed as he gulped. He gave me an apologetic frown as he carefully stepped away from the dance floor.
Tristan turned back to me and wrapped his hands around my waist, pulling me to him as he swayed to the music. I looked up at him with a raised eyebrow.
“You can talk to girls all night but I can’t dance once?”
His nostrils flared. “There’s a difference. His hands were all over you.”
“I had things under control.”
He leaned closer to me and growled in my ear. “I didn’t like it!”

Everfire by Alexia Purdy Blog Tour & Review

Welcome to the Blog Tour for Everfire by Alexia Purdy. Second book in the series. A must read to add to your shelves.

Ever Fire * A dark Faerie Tale Two
Alexia Purdy

The Serenity of the Land of Faerie is threatened as the Unseelie Queen Aveta rages war against the three remaining Seelie Realms of Faerie. As Shade's powers grow, she finds she is running out of time to keep the war from spilling into the human world. Winter is growing in strength as the evil Queen's horrifying legions scar the land in their frigid wake. No one is safe. Shade becomes enemy number one for the Unseelie legions. Questioning her true role of power, Shade discovers the cost of winning may come at a much higher price than she ever imagined.

My Thoughts

Wow - Alexia has topped this new series with this one.. I loved the first book in the series, but this one - I thought was just amazing ... The new characters she has introduced - the world in which she has created, the turmoil - and Shade's choices she must make and of course the storyline = one that will have you hooked, line and sinker till the end..

My heart is torn between which hotty to love the most and in which direction Alexia will take us. One can never have enough book boyfriends and I must say soap.. Just intrigues me ..... He certainly is very bubbly ! (( snickers )) As for Draven - he is taken away from us - but I hope to see more of him in the future works. ** pouts** Alexia does throw in a few twists and turns for sure..

As I said in my first review Ive never been one to read about the Fae, but I can guarantee this is not your normal Fae story, its unique, and dark but also the world in which Alexia has created will certainly pull you into the pages.  Her characters give the book depth and the storyline is new and refreshing.

Be taken on an adventure, A Dark Faerie Tale - where worlds collide, Fae  are not what they seem and characters that will draw you into the pages.

The nail biting adventures will keep readers entertained and intrigued till the last page has been turned.

**Shade becomes enemy number one for the Unseelie legions. Questioning her true role of power, Shade discovers the cost of winning may come at a much higher price than she ever imagined. **

A great sequel from book one. A series you must add to your reader or shelf .

The only thing I can whinge about is - I wanted more.. lol....

4 1/2 stars ..

An excerpt to tease you all !!!

Excerpt 3:
Dylan?”
He turned his eyes to Shade and took in her face, acknowledging her before turning back to the remnants of the day. The seriousness that clung to his face worried her.
“I thought I would be home by now, Shade.” His solemn voice made her shiver.
His arms hung at his sides, never wavering from his statuesque stance, as though his feet were rooted to the land under him. Shade stared at him; he seemed so lost and alone. She wondered often what went through his head. At the graduation parties she had dragged him to, he had hung out at the edge of the rooms or in a corner, trying to fade away and become inconspicuous. He would nod and smile at the friends she would introduce to him, but he would leave that as the extent of his conversation. Getting him to mingle was like pulling teeth.

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry Book Review

Today I have for you my book review for Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry. This read will certainly take you on a roller coaster ride - filled with emotions and depth like no other Ya I have ever read. This book was supplied to me  Via The publisher for an honest review and my thoughts. IT WAS JUST AMAZING !

I won't tell anyone, Echo. I promise." Noah tucked a curl behind my ear. It had been so long since someone touched me like he did. Why did it have to be Noah Hutchins? His dark brown eyes shifted to my covered arms. "You didn't do that-did you? It was done to you?" No one ever asked that question. They stared. They whispered. They laughed. But they never asked.

So wrong for each other...and yet so right.

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

My thoughts.  5 / 5

Pushing The Limits is a story that will certainly tug at your heartstrings, brings tears to your eyes, but keep you buried within the pages till the last page has been turned.

I must say I was Not sure what to expect upon opening the cover. But – upon starting, I read this book from front to back in one sitting. (Till the wee hours of the morning) , I was that engrossed within the story.

The writing and the emotions that Katie put forth were like poetry, fluent flowing and filled to the brim with such intensity, at times you will need to take that moment to digest it all.

The raw emotions and complexity within this story alone will have you riveted on every single word. I just couldn’t put it down. I was gob smacked, heartbroken and I’m sure I felt every emotion that Katie has put forth in this story. The vivid descriptions give the reader great insight not only into the feelings and thoughts of Noah and Echo, but raw intensity between two people trying to find themselves.

A love that was never deemed possible, but two unlikely people found a way. Through friendship and trust Noah and Echo are taken on a journey not only of discovery but also hope. Hope for a better future, to move on and live. But first this journey takes them along that bumpy road to see the light at the end of that black hole.

Noah was that bad boy your mother always warned you about. And Echo a girl with scars more than skin deep. Noah and Echo were polar opposites but both in need of friendship and someone who understands them. Noah‘s reputation preceded him but upon Echo getting to know the real Noah we also see a side to Noah that not many do.

Noah and Echo must first find themselves before they can find each other. They are both taken on a rollercoaster ride, trying to work out their lives. Echo wanting to remember that night and Noah needing to forgive himself and help Echo along her road of healing. Vice versa

Katie takes us on a whirlwind of emotions, a roller coaster ride that will have you cringing one moment, sniffing the next and giggling at the banter and humour between Noah and Echo.

Katie has certainly not held back in this story - her vivid descriptions, giving us details into every character with depth. Each unique and complex characters but showing us a different side to every person. All secondary characters are well fleshed out, and wonderfully woven throughout the story to give it that added depth.

Noah and Echo are both damaged souls, Echo and Noah meet with a mutual counsellor and here an unlikely friendship forms. Echo finds someone that can look past her scars, and whom cares not what people think.

Noah has so much loved for his brothers its hard breaking, and even though I believe he made the right decision in the end, he did it out of pure love alone.

Both Echo and Noah have both suffered life changing experiences, we see the ups and down of both teens, the difference they make within each other, giving support and someone to trust.  This story is so true to life, almost like reading a true story .

Pushing the Limits does contain drug use, sex , inappropriate language for some but I found that this is what’s going through a teenage life and what it can be filled with. Katie has certainly not held back on these aspects giving the reader real to life experiences as a teen.

The love story between Noah and Echo is raw, electrifying filled to the brim with love that is real for more than the physical contact.  (( aka just the sex )) The passion they share is romantic and Noah is such a sweety ** sigh ** His gestures towards Echo will leave you feeling gooey inside ;)

They both find the have to jump through hoops to get where they need to be, make sacrifices, and learning to trust each other. It’s filled with passion but not the type we see in romance novels. But a love that involves friendship, respect and all the emotional scars that go with.

PUSHING THE LIMITS will leave you smiling and happy with the ending but also feeling your left with a heavy heart. The emotions, throughout the story will certainly have you wandering way past the last pages.

A must read to add to your shelf.

A riveting and emotionally charged read with romance entwined throughout. The pages are drenched in an emotionally charged story that will linger even after the last word has been read.

Jamie Magee WItness Tour - Book review & Giveaways

Hi Everyone and Welcome to the Blog Tour for Witness by Jamie Magee. Today I have a great giveaway and my review for Witness. Find as follows the cover and blurb. Witness is book two in the series, See being book one.

Forgetting who you are is hard, but not as hard as remembering. Remembering that you have no idea how to face your demons, how to save the lost.
Charlie is at a sacred threshold.

The ‘glass box’, as she calls it, is slowly falling. Her childhood has ended. The moment she has yearned for, the moment where she can go and do anything, anything at all without seeking permission is now. She’d dreamed of this time, all of her friends had, but now that it’s here, she doesn't know which way to run, or if she should even run at all.

Charlie knew that running would be a goodbye forever, and she didn’t want that, she wanted to freeze the time she was in, to stay in the calm before the storm, the illusion that she could out wit the ones who seek her, hold the one she loves, and play the music that gives her passion. She’ll soon discover no one can hide from their fate, that time does not stop in place, and that whether she chooses to perceive it or not, the darkness has come.

What Charlie feared most, losing him, is a threat now more than ever. A realm, a dark and twisted dream world has called him, and now she must fight to save him, and others like him. Standing in her way is a soul from another life, a boy that promises that he will destroy her world, to save her life. With this threat in hand, with the dark path that her friends are on, Charlie must fight to find a way to leave, to trust that beyond her dimension there are souls that can help her, help all of them. The only question is, will she find them before it's to late, and if she can't, how is she going to use her gift, the gifts they all share to save them.

My thoughts

Forgetting who you are is hard, but not as hard as remembering...

.
Witness is book two in the series  and Jamie  has certainly taken us on a journey of discovery with this one. Charlie is still trying to recover from the outcome in the last book, and with such devastation, she is finding it hard to  SEE ..

Not being able to remember or see - is certainly taking its toll on her, and also affecting her every day becomings.  All she wants to do is protect the ones she loves , but not being able to do so  is affecting her in more ways than one.

She meets a new person- (( mysteriously hot )) lol -   who promises to help her but at dire costs. She is still unsure whom she can trust. Trying To help Draven from the dark side is affecting Charlie as well. She finds that remembering is not easy.

Jamie still gives us the music aspect throughout this read, entwining music within the storyline, giving us a plot that is gradually paced, and intriguingly suspenseful to read on.  This series that Jamie has created is one of a kind. I can guarantee the plot and outline of the stories alone will have your interest piqued.  She has crafted her characters with flaws, not perfect – but this comes along realistic to me. Characters that I have and still enjoy much so.

Questions from book one is put forth, and we are certainly filled with many aspects during this read.

Jamie has put forth her emotions and descriptions well, even the darker side – the ghosts that whisper... That kind of gives me the creeps, but fits so perfectly within the story outline.

Whisper is  a riveting and suspenseful read , filled  with engaging characters that are woven throughout.  Worlds entwined,  and living in a world where not all as it seems.  Being able to see – doesn’t always  have its advantages !  What would you do if you could see the past, look into the eyes of someone and SEE….. ??

Overall a great addition to the Series. Jamie Magee is one author I follow and will continue to read.

I rated this 4/5

A little about the author...
Jamie Magee has always believed that each of us have a defining gift that sets us apart from the rest of the world, she has always envied those who have known from their first breath what their gift was. Not knowing hers, she began a career in the fast paced world of business. Raising a young family, and competing to rise higher in that field would drive some to the point of insanity, but she always found a moment of escape in a passing daydream. Her imagination would take her to places she’d never been, introduce her to people she’s never known. Insight, her debuting novel, is a result of that powerful imagination. Today, she is grateful that not knowing what defined her, led her on a path of discovery that would always be a part of her.

Before I wake - Rachel Vincent Book Review

Thanks to Harlequin for providing this book in exchange for my honest oponion and review.

Find as follows the gorgeous cover , blurb and my thoughts !!

 Soul Screamers Book 6

Before I wake.

I died on a Thursday-killed by a monster intent on stealing my soul. The good news? He didn't get it. The bad news? Turns out not even death will get you out of high school... Covering up her own murder was one thing, but faking life is much harder than Kaylee Cavanaugh expected. After weeks spent "recovering," she's back in school, fighting to stay visible to the human world, struggling to fit in with her friends and planning time alone with her new reaper boyfriend. But to earn her keep in the human world, Kaylee must reclaim stolen souls, and when her first assignment brings her face-to-face with an old foe, she knows the game has changed. Her immortal status won't keep her safe. And this time Kaylee isn't just gambling with her own life....

My review.

Firstly I am not going to go into the storyline to  much, just  touch base with  a few little spoilers,   and just my thoughts on why I loved Before I wake.

Rachel Vincent ‘s Before I wake will certainly take you on a roller – coaster ride. It will not only pull at your heart strings, but have you sitting on the edge of your seat. Twists and turns that will have you heart clenching, and a plot that will have you riveted till you have turned the last page.

Her writing is like poetry, smooth flowing and filled with depth.  The emotions are well portrayed, and not will you only be swept along with the story but will have you wanting more.

Before I wake would have to be my favourite in the series. So much happens and Rachel gets the reader ready for more to come in her last and final instalment in the series.

Kaylee Cavanaugh is given a second chance. Maybe she wasn’t alive but she certainly isn’t a reaper. She has to reclaim the souls rather than take them.  She doesn’t have to do the mundane Human things, but chooses to do so. To give herself some normalcy in her new found Immortal life.

The relation ship between Todd and Kaylee progress‘s and grows within this book, we are swept along with the turmoil and moments throughout this read.

Past rivals come back to taunt Kaylee, to test her. This book is one of growth for Kaylee; we see a stronger side, more confident yet also heart breaking moments, where Kaylee is feeling the grunt of what of her life will bring her.

Before I wake‘s plot is certainly set us up for more tension, dangers, and more suspenseful moments in the next book in the series. My favourite of all the series so far, Rachel has filled us with vivid descriptions, outstanding writing, and a plot that will have you riveted from beginning to end. You won’t be able to put this down.

If you an emotional reader this story will certainly pull out all your emotions Be warned! Its Jam packed with pages of  EMOTIONS.. !!!

Moments where you will be sheepishly grinning, the banter, and witty moments, will make you giggle and also moments where you may just need to grap a tissue or three.  The tension alone will have you grasping at your pages, eager to turn the next page but also hesitant to know what is coming. Rachel has thrown many twists and turns  - ones that you certainly won’t see coming.  Just when you think you have worked it out, a spanner in thrown in the works and the story continue with the reader in awe.

We have new mysteries  to solve in Before I wake -  openings in many a things,  a story that will intrigue you and leave areas for more to unravel  in the next instalment.

The plot zings along full throttle , never slowing down until the book is finished, a  riveting gritty suspense and engaging characters to boot. I eagerly look forward the final and last instalment. As sad as it will be, Im sure that Rachel will engage us  in her last l instalment.

This book was sent to via the publisher for an  honest review.

I rated this book 5/5

Sprite by Leigh Michael Book Review

Today I have for you my book review for Sprite by Leigh Michael. Find the book review, cover and blurb !!

Annabelle Walsh thought she had it all. She was the star of her swim team, had a loving family, a great boyfriend, and to top it off, she’d be starting at UCLA in the fall. One day, she’d be referred to as Dr. Annabelle Walsh.

She was living every girl’s dream – until her life was turned upside down. All starting with finding out that she's not just a human, but also a water spirit. Half-human, half-sprite to be exact. Although not just any sprite, Annabelle is prophesied to be the only one who can save both the sprites and mankind.

With a mix of current events, anecdotes from Greek mythology, tidbits of folklore, and Leigh’s own imagination, we join Annabelle in her journey to restore order beneath the sea. Each step of the way her mind, body, and soul are pushed to the limit begging the question, how much can one half-human, half-sprite take.

My thoughts.

Sprite was definitely new and refreshing for me. Normally I’m into Vampires and werewolves and all things that go bump in the night. But I enjoyed Leigh’s story of Merman, Sprites, and many underwater creatures she has put forth. Even the mythology was intriguing.

She has certainly not held back on the vivid detail in which she has included in her story. Giving the reader step by step detail into the underwater world in which she has created.

Annabelle's goes from being a normal human being to someone she never thought possible. I found that She adapted very well, and moved on with life with no real heart ache or anxiety. I’d like to have seen a little more saddness mabye - after leaving her family behind to live a life she never knew existed. Being pulled from one world to another is just not an everyday occurance.

The storyline was very imaginative - being able to do so much underwater - some of it came across as very unreal. But saying this it is a fantasy story filled with a lot of great ideas and imagination on Leigh's behalf.

An ending I’m sure you will be wandering about, I eagerly look forward to book two to see which direction Leigh takes us. Only a short read easily read in one sitting. I’m sure the creativeness in this story alone will have your interest piqued. It’s very ya, ideal for anyone over the age of 13 and also for all those adults who love a fantasy story containing Mythology and underwater creatures of many kinds.

Characters I’m sure you will enjoy. I found Annabelle a little too eager to accept her new world. I’d like to have seen more turmoil with her new found life and abilities. Otherwise a likable character. The prince I found was sweet and witty .

Overall. I Recommend this to all. A great change to what is currently being shelved at the moment. Its filled with great imagination and an array of well thought out descriptions giving us an underwater world we can see through a looking glass.
