Sprite by Leigh Michael Book Review
Today I have for you my book review for Sprite by Leigh Michael. Find the book review, cover and blurb !!
Annabelle Walsh thought she had it all. She was the star of her swim team, had a loving family, a great boyfriend, and to top it off, she’d be starting at UCLA in the fall. One day, she’d be referred to as Dr. Annabelle Walsh.
She was living every girl’s dream – until her life was turned upside down. All starting with finding out that she's not just a human, but also a water spirit. Half-human, half-sprite to be exact. Although not just any sprite, Annabelle is prophesied to be the only one who can save both the sprites and mankind.
With a mix of current events, anecdotes from Greek mythology, tidbits of folklore, and Leigh’s own imagination, we join Annabelle in her journey to restore order beneath the sea. Each step of the way her mind, body, and soul are pushed to the limit begging the question, how much can one half-human, half-sprite take.
My thoughts.
Sprite was definitely new and refreshing for me. Normally I’m into Vampires and werewolves and all things that go bump in the night. But I enjoyed Leigh’s story of Merman, Sprites, and many underwater creatures she has put forth. Even the mythology was intriguing.
She has certainly not held back on the vivid detail in which she has included in her story. Giving the reader step by step detail into the underwater world in which she has created.
Annabelle's goes from being a normal human being to someone she never thought possible. I found that She adapted very well, and moved on with life with no real heart ache or anxiety. I’d like to have seen a little more saddness mabye - after leaving her family behind to live a life she never knew existed. Being pulled from one world to another is just not an everyday occurance.
The storyline was very imaginative - being able to do so much underwater - some of it came across as very unreal. But saying this it is a fantasy story filled with a lot of great ideas and imagination on Leigh's behalf.
An ending I’m sure you will be wandering about, I eagerly look forward to book two to see which direction Leigh takes us. Only a short read easily read in one sitting. I’m sure the creativeness in this story alone will have your interest piqued. It’s very ya, ideal for anyone over the age of 13 and also for all those adults who love a fantasy story containing Mythology and underwater creatures of many kinds.
Characters I’m sure you will enjoy. I found Annabelle a little too eager to accept her new world. I’d like to have seen more turmoil with her new found life and abilities. Otherwise a likable character. The prince I found was sweet and witty .
Overall. I Recommend this to all. A great change to what is currently being shelved at the moment. Its filled with great imagination and an array of well thought out descriptions giving us an underwater world we can see through a looking glass.
Rating 3 1/2 Stars.

Betrayed Blog Tour - Character Profile N giveaway
Betrayed Blog Tour
- Character Profile Kylie Jensen
Casting
Call: I have an image of Kylie though I will leave it
to readers to decide what she looks like to them. At five-two, not exactly
skinny, pixie face, grey eyes and brown hair dyed black, Kylie went through a
phase when she wore Goth make-up after school. So if I were to cast her, I’d
use Mae Whitman or Ellen Page.

BLOGS IN THE TOUR
- Character Profile Kylie Jensen
CHARACTER PROFILE: KYLIE JENSEN
Race: Human
Age: 16
Birthday: November 16th
Zodiac
sign: Scorpion
Grade: 10th
GPA: 3.3 (she sucks at math)
Favorite
Song: “I’m Alive” by Becca
Power: Medium
Background: Mediums are humans with the ability to bridge the gap between the
‘supernatural world’ and the human world, which means Kylie can hear telepathed
communications. She is like an antenna, a beacon any Nephilim can use to
channel their energy and their thoughts.
Kylie can be sarcastic and super cynical,
but also very loyal to her friends, Lil and Nikki, and she easily welcomed
McKenzie into their little group even though she can’t stand her. She’s lived
in Cache Valley all her life. Her dad works at a local meat packing company and
her mother is a stay-at-home mother who helps out at a local pre-school. She
has one brother.
Kylie’s Celtic blood might be the source of
her amazing ability, but whether she will embrace this new gift or not is
another story. As Lil’s best friend, she could be the only human aware of the
existence of the Guardians in the valley.
Kylie is kind of anti-social. She prefers
just being alone with her boyfriend Cade or her friends watching movies with
supernatural elements. She might not admit it to her brainiac brother, but she
also loves sci-fi and superheroes movies. She introduced Lil to Smallville and
Star-Trek.
She hates anything trendy, which includes
techno music, books and movies people line up for hours to buy and watch. Her favorite
book series is Emily the Strange,
though she will read anything with zombies or apocalyptic theme. Her favorite
food is pizza and she loves Frappuccino.

NEVER TEASE ANYTHING THAT WANTS TO EAT YOU!!!
BLURB.
Never tease anything that wants to eat you. My name is April Tate and my blood is the new gold. Vampires and hybrids have overrun my world, once vibrant with life, but now a graveyard of death shrouded in shadows. I fight to survive; I fight for my mother and brother. The journey is full of turns that I am quite unprepared for. And I'm just hoping to make it to the next Vegas sunrise..."
In a post-apocalyptic world, a viral epidemic has wiped out most of the earth’s population, leaving behind few humans but untold numbers of mutated vampires. April is a seventeen-year-old girl who lives in the remains of Las Vegas one year after the outbreak. She has become a ferocious vampire killer and after her family is abducted, she goes searching for them. What she finds is a new breed of vampire, unlike any she has seen before. Unsure of whom she can trust, she discovers that her view of the world is not as black and white as she once thought, and she's willing to bend the rules to rescue her family. But in trying to save them, she may only succeed in bringing her fragile world crashing down around her

My thoughts..
That alone had me hooked to read on!! How often do you pick up a book where the first few words grip at you and lure you in!! Like a drug I needed more !! ** snickers **
If you’re after Kick arse - action packed Vampire story then April is the new Buffy. She is strong willed - strapped with arms and weapons and on a mission every day of her human life. That girl can surely wield a machete!!
A virus has taken over the city - in order to survive April and her family must hunt to survive. April's worst nightmare has taken place - her family have gone missing and now she is on a vendetta to get them back.
After a whirlwind of events, April meets a new form of Vampires - where here they tell her blood is like gold. She finds out more than she bargined for , including why she has survived so long.
On an action packed adventure for not only survival - April meets Rye, he is of the new species where together Rye and his team embark on a kill and attack mission to get back April's family from the neighbouring Hive.
Wow - After reading Alexia's other series, this is definably in a world of its own. Alexia has procreated a new warp on vampires, introducing us to a new and unique storyline I’m sure that anyone who enjoys a vampire story will like this.
It’s filled with a kick arse female = April who is tough and rough = kills, to survive and does not hold back one bit. Like I said in the beginning ** Move over BUFFY ** lol.. I loved April's character!! Nothing quite like a strong willed female who lets nothing stand in her way!
The first 80 pages or so - we are involved in a lot of April's fight and flight with the vampires. It’s filled with emotions, fights, action, and lots of full on scenes that are very well put forth. April loses her family and shit literally hits the fan. April begins her rampage to find them, Watch out to all the ** Vampires ** in her way. Blood , guts and she certainly lights up there lives !!!
Alexia has introduced new aspects into this story - many different types of Vampires- different traits to go with and this alone I found intriguing and refreshing!!
A little bit of romance is thrown in for the reader whom enjoy a little heart throb in a read. Rye was certainly dreamy - I’m hoping Alexia has another book in mind for us. I’d like to see how this all pans out! ** I know its the romantic in me coming out lol **
Overall, an action packed story filled with lots of blood and killing, and a new spin on the vampire stories currently shelved atm.
A lot of vivid descriptions throughout! Giving us more than enough detail of April's kills and many other scenes put forth. Even to the extreme of the stench - ** holds nose here ** lol.
Reign of Blood will certainly suit anyone who enjoys urban fantasy - a story that nightmares are made of and a world filled with anomalies and alterations not like any current vampire stories written.
I rated this 4 /5 ;)
