Millennia ago, he fell from heaven for her.

Can he face her without falling again?

Fascinated with ancient civilizations, seventeen-year-old Mia Crawford dreams of becoming an archaeologist. She also dreams of wings—soft and silent like snow—and somebody trying to steal them.

When a horrible creature appears out of thin air and attacks her, she knows Michael Fontaine is involved, though he claims to know nothing about it. Secretive and aloof, Michael evokes feelings in Mia that she doesn’t understand. Images of another time and place haunt her. She recognizes them—but not from any textbook.

In search of the truth, Mia discovers a past life of forbidden love, jealousy and revenge that tore an angel from Heaven and sent her to an early grave. Now that her soul has returned, does she have a chance at loving that angel again? Or will an age-old nemesis destroy them both?

Ancient history is only the beginning.

EXCERPT

He pulled the car over to the side of the road and parked it. A heavy silence grew between us. The rain thrummed against the roof of his car and my heart stuttered anxiously against my ribs, like a hummingbird flapping its tiny wings.

He took a deep breath and his voice was thick when he said, “If I misled you…”

My heart stopped, and I blinked at him as heat filled my face. He hadn’t misled me. The feelings I had for him were one hundred percent my own doing. I should have known better.

“I’m not available,” he continued, “the way you want me to be.”

What did he mean, the way I wanted him to be? Any way I could be with him would be fine. Anything was better than not speaking at all. And then the pieces came together: gorgeous and unavailable. He had a girlfriend. Oh God! Why hadn’t I seen the signs before? He didn’t flirt with anyone because he was in love with someone else.

Not caring about the rain, I opened the door and dashed out of the car.

Michael caught up with me and grabbed my arm. I pulled it away.

“It’s wet,” he said. “I’ll take you home.”

Tears burned my eyes, making me grateful for the heavy rain that washed them away, cooling my skin. “I’ll walk.”

“Come on,” he said, “don’t be foolish. You’ll catch a cold.” A wet strand of hair clung to my face. He brushed it aside, so gently, and a deep current trembled through me, compelling me toward him. It was all I could do to hold my ground. His eyes widened and he stepped back. In that moment, I knew he felt it too.

I glared at him. How dare he touch me? Why did he care? Why did he pay attention to me at all?

He shook his head sadly. “Mia, I’m…”

Taken. I know. I shook my head, not wanting to hear any more, and there was this look he gave me, a mixture of pain and something else—something forbidden—that made me want to kiss the rain from his lips.

About The Author.

A Canadian-born author, Lisa Voisin spent her childhood daydreaming and making up stories, but it was her love of reading and writing in her teens that drew her to Young Adult fiction.

A self-proclaimed coffee lover, Lisa can usually be found writing in a local café. When she's not writing, you'll find her meditating or hiking in the mountains to counteract the side effects of drinking too much caffeine!

Though she’s lived in several cities across Canada, she currently lives in Vancouver, B.C. with her fiancé and their two cats.

Interview with Lisa Voisin

For anyone who does not know you would you please tell us something about yourself?

I’m a writer and meditation teacher, with an interest in metaphysics, energy work, and the supernatural.  I live on a strict diet of coffee and fiction—both reading and writing it! When I’m not doing that, you can find me hiking or meditating in the mountains to counteract the side effects of consuming too much caffeine!

Currently, I live in rainy Vancouver, Canada with my fiancé and two highly incompatible cats: Leopold and Chairman Mao.

2. Who or what has been the biggest influence in your life and why?

Gosh, there have been so many influences. I’m surrounded by many great friends, but my outlook on life has changed greatly over the years and I’d have to say I’d have to say the biggest driving force behind that has been meditation. The good things in my life all start there.

3. Is there a question that you would like to be asked in an interview, but nobody has asked? If so, ask away.

I can’t think of one, right now.

4. How many books have you written - ( and how many do you have planned for this series If it is to be one )

The Watcher is my first novel. I have three books planned for the series, if all goes well.

5. What is your current wip?

I am currently working on a book called The Warrior, which is book two of The Watcher series. I’m also planning book three.

6. What gave you the Idea to write have you always wanted to be a writer?

I’ve always loved writing. I first started writing in the 9th grade, though I was writing in elementary school as well. In high school, it became quite an obsession. I needed an outlet for my feelings and imagination, I guess.

7.What inspired you to start your writing career ?

Well, I’d dreamt of being a writer a long time. I worked as a technical writer, but it wasn’t creatively satisfying, so I started writing a novel in my spare time. I then realized there was more to it than I expected, so I took some courses on writing and things snowballed from there. Back when I wrote the first draft of The Watcher, I was between contracts, which gave me three months solid to hammer out a first draft.  Then, the real learning began!

8. Have you written any of your characters in your book to anyone you know?

Not really. The characters mostly lived in my own head, but they may have been slightly influenced by people I’ve known. The only one I can think of is perhaps Heather. She reminds me of one of my own best friends in high school, but only slightly.

9. Anything you would like to share with the readers about your writing? Aka when do you like best to write and where?

I write in cafés half the time because people in a café are less distracting than cats jumping on the keyboard!

10. What is your fav genre to write and why ?

So far I’ve only written paranormal romance, so I’d have to say it’s my favorite. I also enjoy the conventions of Young Adult fiction. I love the first person narrative and the pacing of things in YA, but I’m also open to other genres.
