Sometimes danger is hard to see... until it’s too late.

Before Britt can explore her feelings for Calvin, an unexpected blizzard forces her to seek shelter in a remote cabin, accepting the hospitality of its two very handsome occupants—but these men are fugitives, and they take her hostage.

In exchange for her life, Britt agrees to guide the men off the mountain. As they set off, Britt knows she must stay alive long enough for Calvin to find her. The task is made even more complicated when Britt finds chilling evidence of a series of murders that have taken place there... and in uncovering this, she may become the killer’s next target.

But nothing is as it seems in the mountains, and everyone is keeping secrets, including Mason, one of her kidnappers. His kindness is confusing Britt. Is he an enemy? Or an ally?

Black Ice was an enjoyable read. Would I recommend it Yes !!

I liked it but it didn't grab at me like her Hush Hush series. I know I am comparing .. This a completely different genre. It just fell short for me in some parts.

Her characters were likeable and well defined - but didn't draw me in and have me swooning or starry eyed.

The story was unpredictable and very well written , which I enjoyed - it just didn't have the wow factor for me.

The story developed at a gradual pace, inter twining the suspense and mystery along the way. The story was not predictable what so ever this I appreciated .

I do love my romance in my stories, this fell short for me. The connection was there between the characters . But I just didn't get the heart fluttering ..

I appreciated the time that the author took to describe the surroundings to us .. I could easily envisage this along the way. The hard - wet , dangerous - yet beautiful and alluring setting the book was written in.

I didn't find a lot of action within this thriller - we had a few on the edge of our seat moments . It definitely keeps you intrigued to find how what who where and why though. The cover certainly is mysterious and suits the book well.

The gradual build up between Brit and Mason was a rollercoaster at first but as the story progresses Becca Fitzpatrick did a great job of winding things up with this pair.

Overall, I have put a few negative points forward , these are only my personal opinion.

We all enjoy different aspects within a story. Would I read it again - probably not. But for all those who love Becca's work this is an enjoyable read. Def give it a try .

Thank you to Simon & Schuster Net galley or the arc review for my honest opinion and review.

Like you, I absolutely loved the Hush, Hush series, and I'm slightly nervous about reading this new book. I think I'll check it out from the library first, since you mentioned it's lacking the wow factor. That's what i was afraid of, honestly, because I'm a huge paranormal fan. I'm not much of a contemporary/thriller type person. Sometimes I like a good thriller novel, but usually I'll stick to my paranormal and fantasy books. Great review!
